The Cameron Lady Dragons spoiled the season opener of the Trenton Lady Bulldogs on Monday night, beating the visitors at the CHS gymnasium in straight sets, 25-13, 25-21, in high school varsity volleyball action.

Leading the Dragon varsity in the victory was Claudia McIntire with six kills and three blocks.  Madelyn Garr had 10 assists for the winning side as well. For the Lady Bulldogs, coming up just short in their hopes of sending the opener to a decisive third set, Gilcy Ando had a superb night from the back-line with six aces, while providing five digs.  Allena Allen added four digs, with Karli Provorse contributing three blocks.  Shawna Coplen filled the Trenton stat sheet with three digs, two kills, and two assists, while Saedee Jackson had a pair of blocks.

Trenton’s tough opening week of the season continues tonight (Tuesday) with a trip to Lawson High School to play the Lady Cardinals.  Trenton, after an off day on Wednesday, makes the short trek to Chillicothe on Thursday.

After seeing Trenton tonight, Lawson will begin preparations for a trip of their own to Cameron, playing the Lady Dragons on Thursday evening.
