Trenton volleyball wins third place at Carrollton Tournament, travels to Lexington tonight

The Trenton Lady Bulldog volleyball team beat Brookfield twice, including dominating the third-place match, and split contests with Richmond and Carrollton, taking third place in Saturday’s Carrollton Volleyball Tournament.

Trenton opened the morning with a 25-21, 25-14 win over Brookfield, breaking a losing skid that had included a Monday night loss to Chillicothe, and a Tuesday night setback to Lathrop.  Karli Provorse led THS with eight kills, with Shawna Coplen adding 11 assists, and Teresa Yoder five kills.  Allena Allen had three kills, three aces, and a pair of digs, with Melea Farmer contributing three assists, three aces, and two kills to the win.

In the Lady Bulldogs second game of pool play, Trenton came up short against Richmond, falling 25-21, 25-17.  Provorse had five kills, Farmer three assists, and Coplen three assists for THS.

Trenton split its sets against the host Carrollton Lady Trojans, taking a hard-fought first-set, 25-22, but falling in the second set 25-19.  Allen had five digs and Provorse five kills for Trenton, Yoder and Coplen combined for seven digs, while Saedee Jackson had three kills.

Against Brookfield in the third place match, Trenton rolled their Bulldog rival, 25-8, 25-14.  Allen and Provorse combined for eight aces, while Coplen had five assists, and Provorse five kills.

The Lady Bulldogs travel southward to Lexington on Monday night at 5 o’clock to start the first week of October, then host the MEC-leading LeBlond Golden Eagles on Tuesday night at 5.
