The Trenton High School doubles team of Samantha Mihalovich and Madison Searcy went 1-2 in Thursday, finishing in 4th place and earning medals in doubles competition.

The high finish for the Lady Bulldog duo came with a tinge of disappointment, as a tight semifinal against Maryville went the way of the Spoofhounds in a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (tiebreak 8-6) win for MHS.  Mihalovich and Searcy lost to Maryville in the third place match 5-7, 1-6.  Mihalovich and Searcy entered the tournament as the #3 seed, and earned a first round bye.  The semifinal loss kept Mihalovich and Searcy from a top 2 finish, which would have advanced them to sectionals.

Trenton’s other doubles team in Thursday’s field, Emma Gilham and Alainey Fair, went 1-1, beating Cameron 6-1, 6-0, before bowing out of the tournament with a quarterfinal loss to Lafayette 3-6, 0-6.

In singles play, Trenton’s Claire Utley went 1-1, with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cameron.  In the quarterfinals, a Maryville girl beat Utley 6-0, 6-2.

Lauren Dolan of Trenton opened her day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Savannah, before losing to Maryville 6-0, 6-2.
