West Platte High School (Weston, MO) football coach Nathan Danneman died Wednesday night after a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 29, approximately one mile south of Camden Point in northern Platte County.

The 37-year old Danneman had been the Head Coach of the Blue Jays for the past four seasons, leading the program into the state quarterfinals in 2013 and 2015.  He was a St. Louis native and had assistant coaching work at Marshall and Richmond, before serving two years as Drexel High School head football coach before his move to Weston.  Danneman also served as an assistant coach with the West Platte wrestling program.

On Wednesday night, Danneman was driving on I-29 with his three-old daughter Taven as a passenger when, according to the Highway Patrol, a semi-truck entered the median, and entered the opposite lanes, hitting three vehicles before overturning.  Danneman was pronounced dead at the scene by a Platte County deputy.  Coach Danneman, his three-year old daughter, and two other vehicles involved were traveling southbound, with the semi-truck traveling north, at the time of the accident (6:46 PM).

The semi-truck driver was identified as 63-year old Carl Braddock of Geneva, Nebraska.  He was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.  Taven Danneman was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.  The driver of the third vehicle involved, 23-year old Ronald Wilson of Kansas City, was transported to North Kansas City Hospital.  The driver of the fourth vehicle, identified as 26-year old Amber Garvey of Kansas City, apparently escaped injury in the accident.  Braddock and Wilson, along with Taven Danneman, had injuries described as minor by the Highway Patrol.
