With coaches in place, NCMC launches golf programs

Over the course of the 2016-2017 school year, two sports will be added to the offerings for student-athletes at North Central Missouri College, with men’s golf and women’s golf joining the already established basketball, softball, and baseball programs at the two-year school in Trenton, Missouri.

Athletic Director Steve Richman, referring to the addition to golf, states that he is “thrilled to be adding men’s and women’s golf to the Pirate sports offerings.  Enthusiasm for the additions on campus can already be felt.”

The head coach of the Pirate men’s golf team is Craig Sager, taking the position with the Pirates after resigning his job at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe.  Sager will have a strong Trenton influence on this year’s golf team, with Lane Beverlin, Austin Norris, Cade Mullenix, Easton Klaver, and Wyatt Gregory representing North Central “on the links”.  The Pirate men will begin play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this fall, with their competitive season coming next spring.  The Pirates open their “fall season” on Thursday, September 15th, traveling to Lamoni, Iowa to compete in the Graceland University Fall Invitational.

The Lady Pirates golf team will be piloted by Daniel Cordray, who remains in “recruiting mode” looking to put together the first-ever women’s golf team at North Central Missouri College.
