COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri has been informed by the NCAA that junior defensive tackle Rashad Brandon has been ruled eligible to play for the 2017 season, clearing the way for the JUCO tranfer to return to fall practice.

A team spokesman, on Friday night, confirmed the news of Brandon, a transfer from ASA College in Brooklyn, New York, to the Kansas City Star. An early enrollee last school year at Mizzou, Brandon had participated in spring practice, earning high marks for his play in the annual Black & Gold Spring Game.  However, soon thereafter, the NCAA began a review into his eligibility.

Defensive line depth has been a concern for the Tigers in preparation for the season opener against the Missouri State Bears, at 3 PM on Saturday, September 2nd at Faurot Field in Columbia.  Another JUCO transfer, Malik Young, is awaiting clearance from the NCAA to join the Tigers practice charges.  Junior Terry Beckner Jr. is practicing with the Tigers after recovery from a torn ACL suffered late last season.
