Chillicothe’s Jones earns runner-up spot, Trenton’s Henson and Madden advance, at district golf

Chillicothe’s Green Hills Golf Course hosted the Class 1, District 6 championships on Monday, with the top two teams in the field sending their entire teams, in addition to the top 24 finishers, to next week’s Class 1, Section 3 tournament in Kirksville.

The Kirksville Lady Tigers and Brookfield Lady Bulldogs advanced their teams through to sectionals with a Kirksville winning score of 422, followed by Brookfield’s 430.  Gallatin finished third at 454, followed by Cameron (488), Southwest Livingston (517) and Trenton’s 518.

The individual medalist honors went to Kirksville’s Abby Boyer, at 3 over par 75, with the MEC champion, Chillicothe’s Hallie Jones, in second place at 81.  Brookfield’s Demi Downey was third at 90, followed by teammate Laken Sattman, in fourth place at 83.  Southwest Livingston’s Makenna Campbell, at 102, was in 6th place.  Trenton’s Maci Henson tied with Gallatin’s Jessica Hart for 11th place at 109, with Trenton’s Oakley Madden, at 114, in 14th place.

Class 1, District 8 was contested at the Mozingo Lake Country Club in Maryville, with Savannah’s 461 and Maryville’s 467 advancing those MEC rivals to the Section 4 tournament next.  From the GRC, Stanberry’s Allie Gage was third individually at 23 over par 95, Worth County’s Hannah McElvain was sixth and Maysville’s Callie Justus in a tie for eighth place.  Maryville’s Emily Long won the District 8 individual crown at 15 over par 87.

Class 1, District 7 was played at the Shirkey Course in Richmond, with Pembroke Hill winning the team title at 419, followed by Odessa in second place at 467.  Lawson’s Ellie Smith was runner-up at 24 over par 98, behind the medalist honors taken by Lilli Stallings of Summit Christian Academy, at 95 (21 over par).
