High School Football Local Sports

The East Buchanan Bulldogs won in lopsided fashion in the Class 1 state championship game on Saturday afternoon at Faurot Field in Columbia.  The Bulldogs hammered Adrian 42-0.

East Buchanan finished the year with a mark of 14-1, with Adrian 12-3.  East Buchanan’s only loss this season was a Week 2 setback to Class 3 Savannah 24-19.  The Savages had just two losses this year.

EBHS, on November 19th, passed its most significant test of the postseason, claiming a 14-6 win over GRC champion Gallatin in windy and cold conditions at Gallatin High School in the quarterfinal round.  That would turn out, by a large margin, to be East Buchanan’s smallest margin of victory all season.

The Class 3 state championship was decided on Saturday as well, with the Cardinal Ritter Lions (St. Louis) completing an unbeaten campaign with a 46-7 win over Reeds Spring.  Cardinal Ritter is 14-0, with RSHS finishing 11-3.

Other state championship results from the Show-Me Bowl were North Andrew downing Bishop LeBlond in the eight-man final 54-24, Blair Oaks tipping Lamar 32-27 for the Class 2 crown, St. Mary’s (St. Louis) shutting out St. Dominic 42-0 in Class 4, Francis Howell taking out Fort Osage in Class 5 by a score of 49-21, with CBC defeating Lee’s Summit North in Class 6 by a final of 35-28.
