Final quarter surge sends Panthers to Gilman City Tourney title, 71-55 over the host Hawks

The Pattonsburg Panthers, behind 26 points from Gage Iddings, won the Gilman City Tournament title on Saturday afternoon, downing Gilman City by a score of 71-55.

In a contest heard on Hot Country Z 101.7, Hawk senior guard Brody Langfitt scored 19 of his team’s 21 points in the third quarter, sending Gilman City into a tie at the end of the third quarter.  Langfitt finished with a game-high 37 points as the Hawks fall to 10-9 on the season.

For Pattonsburg (14-5), Landon Woodward and Daltyn Sperry both had 16 points.

In the girls championship game, St. Joseph Christian held off a series of Princeton Lady Tiger second half runs to win 57-53.  Chloe Burnham had 22 points and Ella Bowman 18 for the Lady Lions.  Addy Henke had a game-high 31 points for Princeton, with Grace Kelly chipping in 15.

In the boys third place game, Princeton rebounded from a one-point overtime loss in the semifinal round with one of their strongest performances of the season with a 74-53 win over St. Joseph Christian.  Clay Evans led the Tigers (12-7) with 29 points with Talan Holt adding 19 and Jaden Finney 10.  Nick Orscheln had 14 points and Hayden Riley 13.
