Following MSHSAA dead week, fall sports practices open Monday morning

With the start of the high school fall sports season quickly approaching, Monday morning will mark the start of fall practices for schools in the state of Missouri.

At Trenton High School, six fall activities will open with the first practice sessions of the fall, with the THS cheer squad meeting from 6 to 7 o’clock in the morning in the THS Commons, while next door at the THS gymnasium, the volleyball team will have the longest practice of the day, meeting from 6:30 to 9:30, with a 10:30 to 11:30 walk-through later in the morning.

The Lady Bulldog softball team will open the second season under coach Madi Stillwell from 7 to 9 o’clock at the Ebbe Sports Complex, with football gathering at the practice fields to the west of the high school from 7 to 9 Monday morning.  Tennis will meet at the on-campus Carpenter-Bosley Courts from 8 to 9:30, with golf gathering for the first practice of the fall at Riverside Country Club from 9 to 10:30.  

Football is the only boys sport offered at Trenton High School in the autumn months, with tennis, softball, golf, and volleyball for interested girls.

South Harrison High School will have its first football practice of the season on Monday morning, with a “helmet only” practice from 7 to 10 o’clock.

Maysville R-1 High School has announced a Fall Sports “Kickoff” event at the MHS gymnasium on Friday, August 19th.

The Wolverine drumline will perform a cadence sequence to begin the night at 7 o’clock, followed by coach Bill Arthur introducing the Maysville softball team.  Other squads to receive introductions, in order, will be girls golf by coach Randi McMillen, volleyball by Megan Cochran, cross country by Amber McCrea, cheerleading by Amy Flinn, and football from Chris McMillen.

The MHS Athletic Booster club will provide food and be offering family memberships.  The Booster table will be accepting donations of Gatorade, with athletic activity passes for Wolverine home game available for $100.00 for families and $50.00 for single.  Senior citizens (60 and older) will be admitted for free for Maysville home events.
