After entering the transfer portal in April, St. Louis native Atavian Butler has announced a commitment to Emporia State University of the MIAA to play men’s basketball for the Hornets.
Butler, a St. Louis native, played the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons at North Central Missouri College, earning NJCAA All-American status and helping the Pirates to back-to-back district championships and qualifying for the national tournament in Danville, Illinois.
Following the decision made by the NJCAA during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic to cancel that year’s national tournament, Butler transferred to his hometown, playing last season at Missouri-St. Louis, averaging 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds pre game, while shooting 43% from the field in 13 games for the Tritons.
