The Grundy R-V softball team is aiming for a solid season under first year coach Chelsie Jones, a former Princeton Tiger who graduated this spring from Northwest Missouri State.  The Lady Panthers were hoping to open HDC Conference play on Tuesday against East Harrison, but a COVID-19 scare in the Cainsville and Ridgeway district forced a postponement.

On Thursday night, Grundy’s new opener will see an improved Gilman City squad traveling to Galt to battle the R-V girls in a 5:30 first pitch, with the Grundy girls on the road next week at Novinger (Tuesday 9/9), Green City (Friday 9/11), and the Milan Tournament on Saturday, September 12th.

Every Monday afternoon during the softball season, you can tune in the “Chelsie Jones Show”, starting at 3:30 in the afternoon (5:30 at times if no play-by-play conflict) on KTTN FM 92.3.

Here is the show that aired on August 31, 2020:

The Panther baseball team has good numbers and is hoping for a boost in its level of competitiveness this fall, starting with a visit from LaPlata to the Newtown Ballfield on Friday night, September 4th.  The early season tests against northeast Missouri squads continues next week, with games at Novinger (September 9th) and Green City (September 11th).

Here, originally aired at 3:40 on Monday, August 31st, is the first interview of the fall sports season with Panther baseball coach Ty Stilwell.

“The Ty Stilwell Show” (Grundy R-V Panther baseball):

Grundy R-V is again using a co-operative agreement with Newtown-Harris for its sports teams in the 2020-2021 season.  Although combined in sports, the school districts themselves remain separate, and for now, are competing under the “Grundy R-V Panthers” name and the school districts black, blue, and white color scheme.
