Lady Bulldogs sweep Hamilton, building momentum off of Saturday performance at Lathrop

The three volleyball teams representing Trenton High School swept the visiting Penney Lady Hornets in straight set triumphs on Tuesday night from the THS gymnasium.  The Trenton varsity cruised to a decisive win over the upstarts from Hamilton, 25-8, 25-13.  The JV won 25-9, 25-11, with the “C” team victorious 25-14, 25-23.

For the Penney varsity, Elisha Westover had four kills and a block.  Halle Vanatta had seven assists and Hannah Graham seven assists.  Westover had five digs.  Lady Bulldog statistics are not available as of publish time.

The Trenton varsity had an up-and-down day on Saturday at the Lathrop Tournament, but considering the strong level of competition, played some of their best matches of the season to date.  Against the #1 seeded Mid-Buchanan Dragons in the morning session, Trenton lost in the first match of the day, 25-18, 25-19.  Teresa Yoder had three kills and Karli Provorse four kils, while both had a pair of aces against the KCI’s Lady Dragons.

In Saturday’s second match of pool play, Trenton came up just short in back-to-back sets against the East Buchanan Lady Bulldogs, losing 25-22, 25-21.  Provorse had six digs and Saedee Jackson four kills for Trenton, while Melea Farmer added three assists.

Against Plattsburg, Trenton split a pair of sets against the Lady Tigers, showing head-to-head improvement against a team that swept THS on the Bulldog court in the fourth match of the season.  Final scores against PHS were 23-25, 25-23.  Teresa Yoder had six digs and Allena Allen eight digs for Trenton, with Provorse ringing up seven kills and four blocks, while Melea Farmer stuffed the stat sheet with five digs, five assists, and four aces.

Trenton claimed a victory against the host Lathrop Lady Mules in match #4 of the day, taking a 25-22, 22-25, 16-14 victory.  In their final match of the day, the Lady Bulldogs were tripped up by East Buchanan, 25-19, 25-23.

On Monday night, the Trenton Middle School volleyball team won both matches played against South Harrison.  The TMS “A” team won 25-15, 25-8, with the “B” team taking a 29-27, 25-18, 15-11 win.

The Chillicothe Lady Hornet varsity grabbed a thrilling three-set win against the Cameron Lady Dragons in MEC play on Tuesday night, 20-25, 28-26, 25-21.  Kennedie Kieffer had 12 kills, Elli Ross 18 assists, and Kylie Larson 15 digs in the grueling win for Chillicothe.
