Tickets for the upcoming Super Bowl, set to take place in Las Vegas on February 11 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, are breaking records as the most expensive in Super Bowl history. On the secondary-market site TickPick, the average purchase price was $9,815 on Monday morning, almost double the final average price for last year’s game. This reflects the heightened anticipation for the Las Vegas debut of the Super Bowl and the matchup between the defending champion Chiefs and the popular 49ers.

The current prices surpass the previous high of $7,046 for the 2021 game in Tampa, Florida, which had limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions, intensifying demand. The location of the Super Bowl has historically influenced ticket demand, but the anticipation for this year’s game in Las Vegas has taken it to a new level. TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg highlighted the unique appeal of Vegas as both the entertainment and potential sports capital of the world.

Similarly, StubHub is experiencing strong demand, with an average ticket price of $9,300 on Monday, although it falls slightly below the average for the game two years ago. The lowest-priced ticket on StubHub for this year’s Super Bowl was $6,500. Sales on StubHub have shown a significant increase compared to last year and the 2020 meeting between the same teams, with California residents constituting a substantial portion of ticket buyers, likely due to the convenient location for 49ers fans.
