North Central Missouri College’s basketball teams will play a 2020-2021 basketball season, although with no regular season games played in 2020. A late summer edict from the National Junior College Athletic Association pushed basketball seasons to a starting date in January, instead of the regular date of November 1st. Instead of the regular season ending in late February, and postseason in early March, the regular season will run through the final Saturday of March, with postseason games pushing deep into April.
The Lady Pirates of NCMC will open the season on Wednesday, January 20th, hosting Kansas City Kansas at the Ketcham Community Center, with the North Central women and men coming back for a doubleheader, with the men’s opener, against John Wood on Saturday, January 23rd at 2 and 4 o’clock.
The Pirate schedules, will squeezed into a window of just over two months, will see more games against in-state JUCO Division One teams than compared to past years, and fewer contests against junior varsity four-year school competitors. Only five games against JV’s are planned, with the Lady Pirates hosting Missouri Valley on February 4th and Graceland on February 15th. The Pirate men will hosting Peru State on January 29th, Central Methodist on February 11th, and Graceland on February 15th.
