Potent North Platte attack outscores Wildcats in Class 1 state semifinal

North Platte outscored Milan 54-34 on Saturday afternoon in snowy Dearborn to advance to the Class 1 state championship game against undefeated Marionville.  Tom Johnson broadcast the Wildcats vs. Panthers game on KTTN FM 92.3 and provided this recap: 

Those final points came with 3:05 remaining in the game.  Milan head coach Mark Cole spoke about the second quarter as a whole, including a 44 second drive by North Platte in the final minute prior to halftime that boosted a three-point Panther lead (17-14) into a ten point lead (24-14) at the break: 

Milan finishes the season with an 11-2 record, including a Grand River Conference championship.  Cole called it a wonderful season: 

North Platte improved its record to 12-1, with the Panthers advancing to the state championship game for the first time since winning the title in 1998.  North Platte will play Marionville in the Class 1 title tilt on Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Memorial Stadium at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Marionville defeated St. Vincent in Saturday’s semifinal round 38-7.
