New England’s Emmanuel Boateng connected on the game-winning goal in the 87th minute Sunday afternoon, leading the visiting Revolution to a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park.

The win improves New England’s record to 5-5-4, while dropping Kansas City, in a rare subpar season for the franchise, to 3-9-4.  Johnny Russell had Sporting’s only goal, an equalizer in the 52nd minute to answer New England’s Gustavo Bou, who found the net in the the first half.

New England outshot Kansas City 11-7, with Djordje Petrovic making one save on two shots on goal for the winners.  Tim Melia stopped two of the four shots on goal he faced for Sporting Kansas City.
