The Trenton Boxing Club sent three of its young athletes to Hot Springs, Arkansas this past week to compete in the 2017 Title Boxing National Championships.
Trenton’s Faith Baker, boxing in the 12 year old, 138 pound weight class, met Hailey Murphy from the state of Georgia in her title bout, with Baker winning her second national championship of the year.
Owen Brown, boxing in the 14 year old, 138 pound class, advanced to a championship showdown from Camron Patton of Paris, Tennessee, a boxer ranked #2 in the country by USA Boxing, with an experience advantage over the Trenton youth.  In the match, Brown’s power and conditioning wore down the Tennessean, with Brown winning his second national title of the year, matching Baker.
For Trenton, nine-year old Aryn Pajak, at 75 pounds, was up a weight class from his normal 70 pound division.  Pajak made his way to the semifinals before losing to Little Rock, Arkansas native Antonio Rookard, who advanced to, and eventually won, the championship match, while Pajak claimed third place.
All three Trenton boxers, in addition to a few new faces, will next be in action this Saturday (June 17th), making the short trek to Kansas City for a tune-up event at the Greg Klice Community Center.  Another national event is coming up for the Trenton Boxing Club at the end of the month in Charleston, West Virginia.
The Trenton Boxing Club is currently seeking sponsors and donations to help defray the cost of travel and hotel stays at these tournaments across the country.
