Trenton’s Simpson, Hudson, and Spencer advance to sectional track

In the Class 3, District 8 track meet at Chillicothe High School on Saturday, Lawson won the girls division with 171 points, with Maryville second with 102, Chillicothe third with 93, Cameron sixth with 56 1/2, and Trenton ninth with 31 points.  There were 12 schools in the competition.

Trenton’s Ava Simpson was second in the 1600 meters and third in the 3200 meters.  Jacey Hudson was fourth in the shot put.

Top four finishers advance to the Class 3, Section 4 meet on Saturday, May 20th.

Chillicothe girls in the top four included Kayanna Cranmer first in the 400 meter dash and second in the 800 meter run.  

Also from Chillicothe, Lyla Beetsma was first in the high jump and third in the triple jump.  Anna Pfaff was fourth in the triple jump.

Chillicothe’s 4 by 400 and 4 by 800 meter relay teams both were first.  Hope Helton was third in the javelin.

The boys division of District 8 was won by Maryville with 193.33 points.  Chillicothe was a distant second with 122.33 points, Cameron seventh with 31.33, and Trenton 11th with 18 points.  

Trenton’s Dylan Spencer was third in the discus, while the THS boys advanced the 4 by 800 relay team to sectionals courtesy of a fourth place finish.

The Chillicothe boys qualified for sectionals in several events.  Cain Evans was first in the 3200 meter run.  Charles Walker was first and Gavin Funk second, both in the pole vault.  Luke Thompson was second in the 800 meters.  Bo Smith was second in the discus.

Also from CHS, Cy Evans was second and Isaiah Sprong fourth, both in the javelin.  Finishing third for Chillicothe were Silas Midgyett in the shot put, Laik Graham in the 1600 meters, Javon Kille in the triple jump, and a 4 by 800 meter relay team.
