Trenton’s Spencer advances to Class 3 state meet in discus

In the boys Class 3, Section 4 track and field meet at Warrensburg High School on Saturday, Trenton’s Dylan Spencer won the discus throw to advance to this weekend’s Class 3 state championship meet at Jefferson City High School.  Top four finishers in the various events at the sectional level advance to the state level.

Chillicothe boys qualifying for state included first-place finisher Isaiah Sprong and runner-up Cy Evans, both in the javelin.  Others from the Hornets moving on were Javon Kille in the triple jump, Charles Walker in the pole vault, in addition to the 4 by 800 meter relay.  Those finishes were all third place.  Cain Evans was fourth in the 3200 meter run.

In the girls event, Chillicothe qualified for state in two events.  Kayanna Cranmer won the 400 meter dash, with Hope Helton fourth place in the javelin.

In team results from Class 3, Section 4, Maryville won the boys division with 124 points, Pembroke Hill was second with 82, Chillicothe fifth with 59 1/2 points, and Trenton tied for 16th place with 11 points.

Lawson captured the girls division with 79 1/2 points, with Maryville second with 71, Cameron 12th place 29, Chillicothe 13th place with 28 1/2 points, and Trenton 21st with four points.
