The National Hockey League (NHL) will be returning to Kansas City for a preseason game for the third consecutive year. This time, the St. Louis Blues will face off against the Dallas Stars on September 30th at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:05 PM.

Cable Dahmer Arena is the home venue of the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks, and it will host this NHL preseason exhibition. The previous year, on October 1, 2022, the Blues and Stars played at Cable Dahmer Arena, with Dallas emerging victorious with a 5-2 win in front of 5,800 spectators. In the preceding year, on October 2, 2021, the Blues faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks in Independence, resulting in a 5-1 victory for the ‘Hawks, also in front of 5,800 fans.

The Blues and Stars have a long-standing history, having been part of the same division since their entry into the NHL during the 1967 six-team expansion. The Minnesota North Stars, who were initially awarded to the Twin Cities in 1967, relocated to Dallas in 1993 and were subsequently rebranded as the Dallas Stars. Both teams have won one Stanley Cup title. The Blues had to wait until 2019 to secure their first championship, while the Stars, who had previously reached the Cup Finals twice as the North Stars, claimed their first title in 1999, just six seasons after moving to Texas.
