Champion Marceline puts six players on All-District 7 team

High School Softball

The Marceline Lady Tigers, before bowing out of the state playoffs with a Wednesday night loss to Tolton Catholic, won the District 7 championship, beating Putnam County on the Lady Midgets home field in Unionville.  That performance, part of an outstanding season that included just four losses for MHS, was recognized with six players off the District 7 champs named to the Class 2, District 7 first team this week.

Pitcher Maycee Edgar of Marceline is one of three honored for their work “from the slab”, joining Putnam County’s Sammi Bradshaw and Milan’s Cadence Pauley.

First team infielders are Marceline’s Baylee Jobson and Kenzie Stahl, Putnam County’s Claire Tipton and Katy Salisbury, and Jenna Elam of Marceline.  Marceline has two of the three outfield spots on the first team, with Abbey Kussman and Sarah Kussman joined by Putnam County’s Kori Hornaday.

First-team catchers are Carson Sporleder of Putnam County and Kaydence Almond of Brookfield, while Riley Rouse of Putnam County was named first-team utility.
