Chiefs announce reduced capacity Arrowhead for ’20 season

NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs said Wednesday that Arrowhead Stadium will run under “reduced capacity” for the 2020 season, a response to COVID-19 outbreak guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The announcement concerning capacity will directly affect season ticket holders, with the Chiefs saying the new plan “offers the most flexibility and benefits for season ticket holder for what will be an unprecedented NFL season in 2020.”  With those members unable to be “fairly” re-seated due to the guidelines going into place, those season-ticket holders will automatically have their 2020 payment credited for the 2021 season.

The benefits included with the 2021 credit includes, according to the franchise:

  • Automatically included in a single-game presale for any available 2020 seats, once final capacity is determined
  • Having their credit used to purchase single-game tickets for 2020, if they choose
  • Receiving their 2020 season-ticket-member box with exclusive gifts
  • Having the pricing of the ticket package remaining “flat” for 2021, and accruing tenure for the 2020 season, whether or not they attend games
  • In the event that a full-capacity Arrowhead Stadium would be allowed for potential playoff games, season-ticket members not opting for a refund will be given first opportunity to purchase tickets
  • Parking or hospitality club passes purchased with the season ticket membership can also be managed like the tickets themselves, with either a credit for 2021 or a refund in full
