The Chillicothe Hornets, with a team score of 348, took the team title at Wednesday’s Cameron Golf Tournament, played at the Par-71 Veteran’s Memorial Course.
Excelsior Springs shot 355 to finish in second place, followed by Lawson (378), South Harrison (382), and Gallatin’s 385. Cameron shot a team score of 412 to claim 8th place, followed by Trenton’s ninth place tally of 420. Other teams at the event were Lathrop, Richmond, Penney, Plattsburg, Maysville, and Higginsville.
The top individual score came from the host school, as Cameron’s Brady Stice shot two-over 73, besting the runner-up score of 77 from Jacob Schmidt of Excelsior Springs. Gallatin’s Brody Bird shot 80, good for 3rd place. Other local golfers in the Top 10 were Chillicothe’s Grant Leamer (4th place – 83), South Harrison’s Quinn Taylor (5th place – 85), Chillicothe’s James Matthew (7th place – 87), with Carson Samm of Chillicothe, Lathrop’s Max Gagnon, and Trenton’s duo of Riley Gott and Kiefer Tolson all shooting 88, for a four-way tie for 8th place.
