The Chillicothe Lady Hornets scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning and added an insurance tally in the 7th, beating Lawson 6-1 on Saturday night to claim the title in the Lexington Tournament.

The Lady Hornets walloped Summit Christian Academy to start the morning, 19-2 in four innings, effectively ending the contest by scoring 11 runs in the fourth inning.  Molly Jones earned the victory for CHS.

In Game #2, Chillicothe slipped by Odessa by a final score of 6-5, doing most of their damage in the middle innings, with two runs in the 4th, followed by a 3 spot in the 5th, making a winner of starting pitcher Jylian Davis.

Jones, in the semifinals against Holden, effectively shut down a potent Eagles attack, with the exception of a 3-run third inning, with the Hornets rallying for a 7-3 win.  Jones struck out two batters and scattered 10 hits in the winning performance.

For the Lady Hornets offense, Harlie Jones had four RBI’s over the first three games of the day.  Maddi Graham had four runs combined in the wins over Summit Christian and Odessa.

The four win day and tournament title give the Lady Hornets valuable momentum headed back into regular season and Midland Empire Conference play.  A showdown with nearby rival Trenton remains on the closing horizon for Chillicothe, with the “Senior Night” showdown at THS coming up on Monday night, October 2nd.
