Chillicothe’s Jones finishes second at Section 3 golf tournament

Chillicothe High School’s Hallie Jones shot a 13 over par score of 84 on Monday, finishing four shots behind the winning score of 80 from Kirksville’s Abby Boyer, at the Class 1, Section 3 tournament in Kirksville.  Advancing to the Class 1 state tournament are the Section 3 champion Palmyra Panthers, with a team score of 424, and Kirksville, with a second place tally of 443.  Brookfield was third (453), Centralia fourth (457), and Gallatin fifth (497).

Among those advancing to state, individually, were Brookfield’s Laken Sattman, in third place at 94, and Brookfield’s Demi Downey, with a fourth place 97.  Southwest Livingston’s Makenna Campbell was 7th place at 101.  Marceline’s Madison Gerdes advanced with a round of 107, good for 13th place.

The Class 1, Section 4 tournament was held in St. Joseph on Monday, won by Pembroke Hill with a team score of 421.  Savannah, at 442, finished second.  The individual medalist went to Maryville’s Emily Long, with a 13 over par score of 84.  Allie Gage of Stanberry was second at 98.  Others from the area advancing to state are Lawson’s Ellie Smith, in 10th place at 103, Stanberry’s Brianna Newman, with an 11th place 105, Plattsburg’s Abigail Daffron at 107, and Worth County’s Hannah McElvain, at 110, the score that served as the cut line for individual advancement.
