The MINK League has announced that Chillicothe will host the 2017 All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, scheduled for Thursday, July 6th at Shaffer Park, the home of the Chillicothe Mudcats summer wood-bat baseball team.
The decision to move the game to Chillicothe ends a two-year run of hosting the two-month long league’s decision to play the game at St. Joseph’s Phil Welch Stadium.
In addition to the All-Star announcement, a change to the MINK League’s postseason format is being implemented for 2017. The top THREE teams from each division will advance to postseason play, with the #2 seed hosting the #3 seed in a one-game “wild card” contest. The winner will advance to a one-game divisional playoff on the field of the #1 seed, who will enjoy a first-round bye.
The two surviving teams will meet in a best-of-three MINK League Championship Series.
