Dodgers and Padres will open ’24 regular season in South Korea

MLB

Major League Baseball has announced that the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will play the league’s first regular-season games in South Korea. The games will take place in Seoul on March 20-21, marking a significant step in expanding MLB’s international presence.

In addition, the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies are scheduled to play in Mexico City on April 27-28. This follows the successful regular-season games held in Mexico City earlier this year between the Padres and San Francisco Giants.

MLB has planned three sets of international games for the upcoming season. The previously announced two-game series in London between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies will take place on June 8-9.

Furthermore, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will participate in spring training games at Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic on March 9-10.

The upcoming games in South Korea and Mexico City, along with the London series and the spring training games in the Dominican Republic, demonstrate MLB’s commitment to expanding its global reach.

These international games will be the ninth set of games played abroad by MLB, following previous games in locations such as Monterrey, Mexico; Tokyo, Japan; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Sydney, Australia.
