Former Trenton teacher and coach to be recognized by Pro Football Hall of Fame

A man with a Trenton connection will be recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence Program. The late Bill Simmons will be recognized in June. He will join his son, Dan Simmons, who was in the inaugural class last year.

Bill Simmons was a teacher and coach at Trenton Junior High School in the 1950s and early 1960s. Dan Simmons was in the Class of 1964 until the family moved to Saint Louis in 1962.

Bill Simmons was the equipment manager for the football Cardinals for 22 years.

Dan Simmons was the equipment manager for the New Orleans Saints after working with his father in 1971-1972. He served the Saints for 42 years and still serves the Saints as their alumni and legends coordinator.
