Gabbert signs as back-up to Brady with Tampa Bay

NFL

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed former University of Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert to a one-year deal, bringing back the nine-year veteran to back-up newly-signed future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

Gabbert missed last season in Tampa Bay after dislocating his shoulder in the preseason.  In his last regular season action, the St. Louis native won two of three starts with Tennessee in 2018.

Entering the NFL in 2011 as the 7th overall pick in the draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Gabbert struggled in three seasons with Jacksonville, but has remained in the league as generally a back-up, moving from San Francisco, Arizona, Tennessee, and Tampa Bay.
