The Gallatin High School athletics program is gearing up for the start of the 2023-2024 season after a successful year in 2022-2023. The boy’s football and basketball teams won championships, and the girls’ programs, including softball and basketball, showed improvement.

The Bulldog football team, despite graduating several players, aims to defend its Grand River Conference (GRC) championship in 2023. With Princeton moving to the 8-man ranks and the addition of Marceline and Brookfield to the GRC, the league will consist of nine schools, but not until July 1, 2024.

Starting next year, Gallatin will have future conference games with Marceline, but will get a head start this year, as the Bulldogs will face off against Marceline in the regular season finale on the road October 20th. In addition to the six conference games and Marceline tilt, Gallatin will have non-conference matchups against North Platte (home) on August 25th and Hamilton (away) on September 1st.

The defense of the GRC title begins with a home game against South Harrison on September 8th, followed by away games against Polo on September 15th and Maysville on September 22nd. The month of September ends with a challenging home game against the Milan Wildcats on the 29th. The biggest challenges for Gallatin may come in early to mid-October, with games against Putnam County on October 6th and the “Highway 6 Rivalry” matchup against Trenton on October 13th.
