Gallatin Bulldogs win GRC wrestling title, Maysville runner-up, Trenton third

The Gallatin Bulldogs won the Grand River Conference wrestling tournament, contested on Saturday at Albany High School.  Gallatin accumulated 197 points, 72 more than runner-up Maysville’s 125.  Third place Trenton totaled 112 points, followed by Stanberry’s 97.  Albany finished fifth, with Polo and South Harrison in a sixth-place tie, and North Andrew in eighth place.

Mark Trump (182 pounds) and Jadan Whitney (195 pounds) won individual titles for Trenton, with Mason Owen finishing second to Gallatin’s Graydee Rains at 220 pounds.  Also for THS, Quincy Griffin, Brice Gibler, and Eric Lovett all finished third, with 2-2 records.

Trenton Head Coach Charlie Bacon said Trump and Whitney “wrestled extremely well” throughout the tournament.  Trump won all three of his matches by pin. Whitney captured both of his matches by pin.

Owen, who was second, had one win and one loss.  The victory for the Trenton senior came via pin, with the loss to Gallatin’s Rains by 7-1 decision.  MissouriWrestling.com ranks Rains fourth and Owen sixth in the state in Class 1 at 220 pounds.  

As a team, Gallatin is ranked fifth in the state in Class 1.

113 pounds: Ross Critten (Gallatin) pins Nick Williams (South Harrison) at 4 minutes, 16 seconds , Quincy Griffin of Trenton finishes third

120 pounds: Ayden Wayne (Gallatin) over Dylon Pappert (Stanberry) by 6-4 overtime decision for championship , Jeremy Wimer of Albany finishes third, Canyon VonBurg (Trenton) finishes fourth

126 pounds: Dylan Wade (Maysville) over Rian Critten (Gallatin) by 21-9 major decision for championship, Brice Gibler (Trenton) wins third by pin at 5 minutes, 47 seconds over Jaren Van Meter (South Harrison)

 

 

132 pounds:  Drake Eychaner (North Andrew) wins first place, Jared Eads (Maysville) second, Griffin Jennings (South Harrison) third

138 pounds: Drayton Harris (Gallatin) wins championship over Wyatt Segar (Polo) by 7-4 decision, Conner Berry of Maysville finishes third, Payden McCullough (Trenton) fifth

145 pounds: Dalton Wade (Maysville) beats Caleb Boyd (Gallatin) for championship, Eric Lovett (Trenton) wins third place by 7-1 decision over Briar Frame (South Harrison)

152 pounds: Rueben Gage (Stanberry) beats Will Engel (Albany) for championship by pin at 3 minutes, 11 seconds, David Harris (Polo) wins third place match over Noah Lewis (Trenton) by 17-0 technical fall

160 pounds: Tom Crouse (Gallatin) beats Joseph Hilburn (Polo) by 5-0 decision for championship, Cole Gripka (Maysville) wins third place over Lucas Clark (Trenton) 

170 pounds: Gage Wright (Gallatin) beat John Shanks (Stanberry) for championship by pin at 1 minute, 20 seconds.  Trent Strong (Maysville) wins third place over Nick Wattenbarger (Trenton) by pin at 4 minutes, 49 seconds

182 pounds: Mark Trump (Trenton) beat Owen Schweizer (Gallatin) for championship, Kenny Summa of Stanberry finishes third

195 pounds: Jadan Whitney (Trenton) beat Cody Arnold (Gallatin) for championship by pin at 3 minutes, 29 seconds.  Trey Scoles of Maysville finishes third

220 pounds: Graydee Rains (Gallatin) beat Mason Owen (Trenton) for championship by 7-1 decision.  Zach Oldham of Stanberry finishes third

285 pounds: Blade Powers (Albany) beat Michael Saucedo (Maysville) for championship by 1-0 decision.  Jarvis Collis of Trenton finishes third
