Gallatin wins Cameron Golf Invitational; Jett Simmons earns top spot; Trenton’s Nate Swann 3rd

The Gallatin Bulldogs have won tournaments on back-to-back days, taking the Cameron Golf Invitational on Wednesday, after taking the title in the “Gallatin Quad” on Tuesday.

Gallatin, at the Cameron event, shot a team score of 321 to outdistance the 329 of runner-up Cameron, and the 344 from third place Trenton. Chillicothe was in 7th place, scoring 383.  Other schools in the tournament were Excelsior Springs, Richmond, Plattsburg (6th place – 373), Lafayette, Benton, Lawson, Higginsville, and Lathrop.

Gallatin High School’s Jett Simmons claimed the top individual spot at the Cameron Invitational, shooting 74.  Chase Foreman of the host Cameron Dragons was second with 78, with Nate Swann of Trenton High School in third place at 79.  Cameron’s Trey Howell was fourth at 80, with Lathan Croy of Trenton in fifth place, with a round of 81.

Chillicothe’s top score, an 82 from Hayden Montgomery, put the Hornet golfer in a three-way tie for 6th place with Gallatin’s Logan Burns and Wyatt Bird.  Gabe Cole of Gallatin had the 9th position by himself with a score of 83, with Trenton senior Corbyn Guile in a three-way tie for 10th place (with Bryce Edwards of Excelsior Springs and Austin Bowman of Richmond) at 84.

Other Trenton scores were Luke Lewis with 100 and Connor Cotton at 108.  For Cameron, Kyler Hill shot 85, Spencer Teel 86, and Sam West 88. Gallatin’s Hade Bradford shot 96, with Chillicothe recording 89 from Peyton Moritz, 96 from C.J. Williams, 123 from freshman Lucas Wine, and a round of 116 from Ben Saale.

On Tuesday afternoon, Gallatin claimed the championship of the Gallatin Quad, with a score of 155 beating Plattsburg’s 188, and Lathrop’s 208. Princeton brought Mason Weber, who shot a 46 representing the Tigers.

Simmons shot 36 on Tuesday to win the medalist honors at the Daviess County Country Club, with Burns shooting 37, Bird 38, Bradford 43, and Cole 49 for the host Bulldogs.  Plattsburg’s top score was 46 from Garrett Stephens.  Lathrop’s Kenny Breckenridge shot a nine-hole score of 45.
