As the anticipation for the 2023 college football season builds, the preseason rankings have been unveiled in the Coaches Poll. Reigning national champion Georgia takes the lead as the No. 1 team, while Big Ten champion Michigan claims the second spot.

Michigan’s strong position edges out No. 3 Alabama and rival Ohio State at No. 4. The Wolverines earned 1510 points in the preseason ranking, a mere 21 points ahead of Alabama and 25 points ahead of Ohio State. Despite securing the No. 2 rank, Michigan did not secure any first-place votes from the coaches panel. In contrast, Alabama garnered four first-place votes, while Ohio State received one vote of confidence.

LSU claims the fifth position, with USC following closely at No. 6. Penn State secures the No. 7 spot, trailed by Florida State, Clemson, and Tennessee to round out the top 10. Notably, national finalist TCU takes the No. 16 spot, adjusting after losing key contributors to the NFL. Pac-12 champion Utah holds a respectable position at No. 14, while Tulane proudly represents the Group of Five teams, debuting at No. 23.
