Graceland announces Lorensen as new head men’s basketball coach

Graceland Athletic Director Brady McKillip has announced the immediate appointment of Todd Lorensen as the new Men’s Basketball coach, succeeding Taylor Langley who recently stepped down from the position.

McKillip expressed confidence in Lorensen’s coaching abilities and highlighted his coaching track record and achievements. Lorensen had previously been an Assistant Coach at Graceland since last year, contributing significantly to the team’s coaching efforts.

Lorensen brings substantial coaching experience to the role, having previously held head coaching positions at institutions such as Mount Marty, Buena Vista, and Iowa Wesleyan. Notably, he achieved remarkable success as the Head Coach and Athletic Director at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. Under his leadership, the team experienced a historic turnaround, including securing a NJCAA National Championship in 2017, earning him esteemed honors as NJCAA National Coach of the Year.

His coaching prowess and dedication to recruiting have been evident during his time at Graceland. Lorensen’s transition to the head coaching role is supported by both the university and the administration.

Expressing his commitment, Lorensen conveyed his gratitude to the university’s leadership, including President Draves and Athletic Director Brady McKillip. He looks forward to building upon the program’s strong foundation and is eager to reunite with the players for the upcoming year and season.
