Green City’s Williams fires 3-hitter, strikes out 15, in Gophers win at Trenton

Green City High School’s Camden Williams shut down the Trenton Bulldogs lineup with 15 strikeouts over six innings of work, leading the Gophers to a 7-1 win on Thursday afternoon at Burleigh Grimes Field.  Williams fired 106 pitches at the Bulldogs, with 69 of those for strikes.

The Gophers took a 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the 3rd inning, with THS scoring its only run of the night in the bottom of the 4th inning, as Avery Cooksey scored on an RBI single by Drew Rorebeck.  A run in the top of the 5th extended the Gopher advantage to 3-1, before the visitors put the game away with 4 runs in the 6th.

Spencer Harris pitched the first four innings of the game for the Bulldogs, and was strong, as the two runs allowed in the 3rd were both unearned. Harris gave up four hits and a base-on-balls while striking out four batters, with 41 of his 61 pitches for strikes.

Hunter Dugan pitched the fifth, Rorebeck the sixth, and Colton Colston the 7th inning for the Bulldogs.  Trenton committed five errors in the loss.

The loss drops the Trenton record to .500 (5-5), with the Bulldogs next contest against the St. Joseph Christian Lions on Thursday, April 13th at 4:30 PM (coverage on Hot Country Z 101.7) from Burleigh Grimes Field.
