Lady Bulldogs grab eight first-place finishes, find success, at Brookfield

The Trenton Lady Bulldog track and field team traveled to Brookfield on Tuesday afternoon, participating in the Brookfield Relays, along with area schools Milan and Brookfield.

THS made a strong showing, with eight first-place finishes and five second-place finishes, led by victories in the 300 meter hurdles, high jump, and javelin toss by senior Whitley Richman.  In the three relay races contested (there was not a 4 by 800 race), Trenton won the two sprints (4 by 100 and 4 by 200) while finishing second in the 4 by 400 race.

Members of the victorious 4 by 100 team for Trenton were Lana Raymo, Tenna Roberts, Lexi Whitaker, and Mason Hooyman, while the same group of four won the by 4 by 200.  McKayla Blackburn, Shayla Woodside, Whitaker, and Roberts made up the 4 by 400 team.

Woodside won the triple jump (31′ 1″) and was second in the long jump and 400 meter dash.  Hooyman was third in the 200 meter dash, with Kendall Crowley third in the discus toss.

Trenton’s pole vaulting duo of Mason Hooyman and Cassidy Trump continued to score strong for the Lady Bulldogs in that event, with Hooyman taking the title at Brookfield with an 8 foot effort, while Trump was second at 7 feet, 6 inches.

The Trenton girls and boys will host the Trenton Relays, Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock at C.F. Russell Stadium.
