The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates returned to the softball diamond on Thursday afternoon with a doubleheader split against Indian Hills (IA) Community College at Griffin Field. The Lady Pirates won the opener in lopsided fashion by a score of 13-1 before rallying in the second game for a 10-2 triumph.
In the opener, the visiting Warriors were led by Putnam County High School graduate Claire Tipton, who scored twice and added three RBI’s, hitting a home run along with Julia Kwakernaak. Tatum Aragon was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI’s, with leadoff hitRyliter Eva Fulk scoring four runs in the five-inning contest.
Sara Reid shut down the Lady Pirates offense with four innings of one-hit softball, striking out six.
In game two, NCMC, after falling behind by 1-0 through 1/2 inning, roared to life with two runs in the first and second innings, ending the game with three more runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. Brookelynn Becker smashed a two-run homer for the Lady Pirates, with Rylie Boyer’s fifth inning hit ending the game via run rule.
Now 19-14 on the spring season, the Lady Pirates next test will be a Region 16 doubleheader in Kansas City against Metropolitan Community College.
