Linn County Mustangs win third place game at Milan Tournament

The Linn County Mustangs beat Tri-County Conference rival Green City on Wednesday night, in the weather-delayed third place boys game of the Milan Invitational  Tournament.  The Mustangs won by a score of 59-39.

The third place game and both championship games were moved from last Saturday, when fears about icy weather forced the postponement of all three games.  The championship games from Milan High School will be played on Saturday, January 28th, with the Milan Lady Wildcats playing Green City at 5 o’clock, followed by the Milan boys playing Novinger at 6:30.

The Milan High School gym will remain busy over the next five nights, with the Lady ‘Cats and Wildcats hosting two key Grand River Conference doubleheaders.  On Friday night, the conference leading Trenton girls and boys pay Milan a visit, while on Tuesday night, arch-rival Putnam County travels to “The Den”.  All four games will be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.  The Milan, Putnam County, and Trenton boys, in addition to the Trenton girls are going into this Friday night with unbeaten records in the GRC East.

At the Macon Invitational Tournament, the Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs played Tolton Catholic in the semifinal round, falling to the Lady ‘Blazers by a score of 75-32.  In the other girls semifinal from MHS, #6 seed Mexico stunned #2 seed Centralia 59-56, dropping the Lady Panthers into a third place game with Brookfield.
