The Mercer girls and boys had one of the more challenging pair of opponents on their schedules visit “Cardinal Country” on Thursday night, as the Penney High School Hornets of Hamilton traveled northward for a doubleheader with Mercer. Despite showing bursts of good play throughout the evening, Mercer came out on the short end of both games, now regrouping for a Tuesday night doubleheader against a pair of quality squads at Green City High School.
The Lady Cardinals are 0-2, while the Mercer boys sit at 1-1 heading into the Gophers gym tonight. On Friday night, KTTN-FM 92.3 will have coverage of the annual in-country rivalry games with Princeton, as the Lady Tigers and Tigers visit Mercer for doubleheader action.
