Mosley out, Brown in as Mizzou offseason roster jockeying continues

Mizzou Mizzou Basketball

University of Missouri guard Isiaih Mosley has left the Tiger basketball program, giving up his final year of eligibility to pursue a professional career, likely overseas.  Mosley will not be eligible for the NBA Draft in late June, due to failing to meet specific guidelines in the process.

After playing at Missouri State University in Springfield for three seasons, Mosley spent his final collegiate season at Mizzou, returning to the city of Columbia, where he helped lead the Rock Bridge High School Bruins to a state championship in 2019.  In 14 games at MU, he averaged 9.6 points per game.  At Missouri State, Mosley starred for the Bears, averaging over 19 points per game in his final two seasons.

While Mosley departs Mizzou, 6’7″ point guard Kaleb Brown is returning to the program.  The younger brother of potential NBA Draft pick Kobe Brown, Kaleb struggled to find the floor last season, appearing in only 11 games, scoring a season-best four points in a win over SIU-Edwardsville.

Kaleb Brown is joining Aidan Shaw, Nick Honor, Noah Carter, Jackson Francois, and Mabor Majak as returning players for Mizzou.

In other Mizzou related basketball news, former coach Frank Haith has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Texas.  Haith returns to a Longhorn program where he served as an assistant from 2001 to 2004.  In head coaching jobs at Miami (FL), Missouri, and Tulsa, he won 343 of 580 games, reaching the NCAA Tournament four times.

Missouri’s 2023-2024 season will include a trip to Lawrence, Kansas to play the archrival Kansas Jayhawks for the third matchup of a six-year series signed between the schools.  MU and KU will play on December 9th, the second Saturday of the month.  Game time at Phog Allen Fieldhouse has not yet been announced.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Missouri is expected to host Penny Hardaway’s University of Memphis Tigers on November 10th, in a early season battle of rising programs from the AAC and SEC.
