Mudcats have night off, Boscarino named MINK League Player of the Week

In the MINK League on Tuesday night, the Chillicothe Mudcats had a night off, and the scheduled game between Joplin and Nevada was postponed. However, the postponed game between Joplin and Nevada will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday evening at 5 o’clock.

Among the games that did take place on Tuesday evening, St. Joseph emerged victorious by doubling up Des Moines with a score of 8-4, while Sedalia delivered a commanding performance by hammering Clarinda with a dominant 10-0 win.

Wednesday’s schedule includes two doubleheaders, with Carroll Merchants playing at Sedalia at 5 o’clock. Additionally, there are two single games scheduled: St. Joseph will face Jefferson City, and Chillicothe will travel to Indianola, Iowa to take on Des Moines. Both of these games are set to start at 7 o’clock.

In other news, Chillicothe’s slugger, Luca Boscarino, has been recognized as the MINK League player of the week for Week #4 of the summer season. Boscarino has been performing impressively, boasting a .255 batting average with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 12 games so far this season. Notably, in a doubleheader against Jefferson City on Saturday, June 17th, Boscarino displayed his prowess with three hits, two RBIs, a home run, and two runs scored. Additionally, in a recent game on Monday, June 26th, against Sedalia, Boscarino contributed to a 4-3 victory by scoring a run and adding an RBI.

The pitcher of the week honors go to Chris Massey of the Joplin Outlaws. Massey, who hails from Willard High School and the University of Central Missouri (UCM), has been impressive out of the bullpen. He has recorded 20 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings of work, maintaining an ERA of 4.32. Over the past 10 days, Massey has been particularly dominant, allowing no runs and only three hits in 7 1/3 innings of play.
