MU’s O’Toole wins national title at 165 pounds

Missouri had one individual champion and finished ninth as a team in the NCAA Wrestling Tournament at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

Keegan O’Toole captured the 165 pound title by edging Shane Griffith of Stanford University 6-5.

Missouri’s Rocky Elam was fourth at 197 pounds.

Penn State won the national championship with 131 1/2 points.  All five Nittany Lions wrestlers who reached the finals won national individual titles.

Michigan was second in team scoring with 95 points, while Iowa was third with 74.  Missouri, the Big 12 champions, had a 49 1/2 point outing, good for ninth.
