NCMC drops 12-5 baseball decision to Indian Hills

The NCMC Pirates scattered six hits on Tuesday, but weren’t able to push enough runs across, and lost 12-5 to Indian Hills Community College.  Brenden Garza had an impressive outing for the Pirates, as IHCC managed just three hits off of Garza, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out three during his four innings of work.

Maverich Lourens ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

Indian Hills CC piled on eight runs in the bottom of the second.  One run in the top of the fourth helped NCMC Pirates close the deficit to 9-1. A groundout by Ryan Sport gave the NCMC Pirates life. Indian Hills CC stopped the rally after Derek Hussey struck out.

Three runs in the top of the seventh helped the NCMC Pirates close their deficit to 10-4. A two-run double by Smith Kemper and a groundout by Cameron Dean fueled the comeback effort.  Jon Zuptich flied out to end the threat.

One run in the top of the eighth helped the NCMC close their deficit to 11-5. An RBI single by Sport drove in the tally.
