A new face will lead the men’s basketball program at North Central Missouri College in the 2016-2017 season, as Penney High School (Hamilton, MO) product Jeremy Esry, a former NCMC player, will slide over from the assistant’s chair to the head coaching chair.  Esry replaces Steve Richman, who will remain the school’s athletic director and assume his new duties as women’s softball head coach, replacing the departed Megan Cairns.

Having been with the Pirates program for the past three years, Esry has been closely involved in the recruiting process for the program, a fact that should make the transition very smooth:

Esry received an Associate in Arts degree from NCMC while playing basketball for the Pirates.  At Central Methodist University, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Coaching and a Master’s degree in Education.  Jeremy also has basketball coaching experience, prior to his return to North Central, at Central Methodist and Peru State (Nebraska) College.  The transfer of Esry from assistant to head coach at his alma mater came Tuesday during a Board of Trustees meeting in Trenton:

The former Pirate discussed in detail the challenge of making Coach Richman’s program into Coach Esry’s program over the next four months:

A schedule for the 2016-2017 season is close to being finalized, but not quite ready for a public unveiling.  Once completed, the basketball schedule will be available from the college’s website, www.ncmissouri.edu.
