The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced that NCMC women’s basketball freshman Sarah Lamp (Kirksville, MO) has been chosen as the Division II Player of the Week for the 3rd week of the season.

During the week of November 14th-20th, the Lady Pirates went 3-0 as part of their current 6 game winning streak.  The wins came against three NJCAA Division II foes in Southwestern Community College, John Wood Community College, and Bryant & Stratton College.  Lamp led the Lady Pirate attack in all three contests collecting three double-doubles.  On the week, Lamp netted a total of 88 points and hauled in 41 rebounds.

“Sarah is really playing well right now. She’s shooting the ball extremely well and her teammates are doing an outstanding job of getting the ball inside to her. We are excited to see her continue to grow as a player,” commented head coach Jenni Croy.

The Lady Pirates are back in action Wednesday, November 30th on the road at Kansas City Kansas Community College.  The 5:30 tip will be broadcast locally on Hot Country Z 101.7, with pregame at 5:15.  The Pirate men, on Wednesday night, will be in Iowa Falls, Iowa for a 7:30 tipoff against the Ellsworth CC Panthers.

Saturday will be the next home contest as the men and women take on John Wood Community College at the Ketcham Community Center.  The women’s game will start at 1:00 pm and the men’s game will be at 3:00 pm.
