Nine-run first inning sends Royals to 7th consecutive win, 13-3 over Houston

MLB

The Kansas City Royals’ 13-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Thursday not only extended their winning streak but also marked a significant milestone in their history. It was only the third time in their 56-year existence that they completed a homestand with a perfect 7-0 record.

The game started with a bang as the Royals scored an impressive nine runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Bobby Witt Jr. had a standout performance, going 4 for 5 with five RBIs, including a home run in the first inning. Witt’s offensive prowess was matched by his stellar defensive play, making him a key player in the Royals’ victory.

Despite some early challenges, starting pitcher Brady Singer navigated through five innings effectively, surrendering only one run while improving his record to 2-0. Although the bullpen’s impressive streak of consecutive scoreless innings came to an end, the Royals’ offense more than made up for it with their dominant performance at the plate.

The Royals’ ability to bat around the lineup became evident once again, as they sent 15 hitters to the plate in the first inning alone, resulting in their biggest inning of the season. This offensive onslaught has been a recurring theme for the Royals, showcasing their depth and power throughout the lineup.

After showcasing their improvement on their home turf at Kauffman Stadium, the Royals have hit the road for a weekend interleague series starting Friday night in New York City against the Mets.  First pitch tonight is at 6:10, with pregame at 5:30 on KTTN AM 1600, and FM 98.3 and 92.3.
