The Carolina Panthers have reached a four-year contract agreement with Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The team made the announcement on Friday.

According to a person familiar with the situation, the fully guaranteed contract is valued at $37.9 million. However, the person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to disclose the terms publicly.

This deal comes just four days before the Panthers are scheduled to report to their training camp in Spartanburg, South Carolina. With Young signing his contract, all of Carolina’s draft picks are now under contract as they head into camp.

In order to secure the top pick and draft Bryce Young, the Panthers made a trade with the Chicago Bears, moving up from the ninth spot. With Young joining the team, the Panthers hope to have found a potential long-term solution at the quarterback position, an area where they have struggled to find consistency over the years.

Bryce Young, who stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 204 pounds, had an impressive college career at the University of Alabama, winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2021. As a two-year starter for the Crimson Tide, he left a mark in school history with 8,356 career passing yards and 80 touchdowns.

During the team’s organized team activities (OTAs), Young took over first-team reps, positioning himself to be the potential Week 1 starter for the Panthers. With the contract now finalized, the Panthers can focus on preparing for the upcoming season with their talented rookie quarterback leading the way.
