Polo earns top seed, Gallatin #2 in District 7 softball tournament

Maysville High School is set to host the Class 1, District 7 softball tournament, scheduled to start on Thursday night (October 12th) with a pair of first-round games.

With MSHSAA shrinking Class 1 from sixteen to eight districts for the 2023 season, the size of district tournaments has doubled, as ten teams will make up the field, including Grand River Conference rivals Polo and Gallatin, with the Lady Panthers receiving the #1 seed and Gallatin #2.

In Thursday’s opening round, #8 seed DeKalb will play #9 seed Stewartsville/Osborn at 5 o’clock, followed by a matchup with the host school, #7 seed Maysville against Tri-County at 7 o’clock.  Joining Polo and Gallatin in receiving first-round byes are Bishop LeBlond, North Andrew, Pattonsburg, and King City.

Quarterfinal round matchups are set for Saturday, with Polo taking on either DeKalb or Stewartsville/Osborn at 11 o’clock, with #4 seed North Andrew meeting Pattonsburg at 1 o’clock.  In the 3 o’clock matchup, Gallatin battles the Maysville/Tri-County winner, with #3 seed Bishop LeBlond taking on King City at 5 o’clock.

The semifinal round games will be at 5 and 7 ‘clock on Monday, October 16th, with the Class 1, District 7 championship game on Tuesday, October 17th at 6 o’clock.
