Eight more players were selected by the Kansas City Royals on Friday, adding to the Thursday night selection of Pepperdine University right-handed pitcher A.J. Puckett on Thursday night.

Kansas City, on Friday, drafted six collegiate players and only two from the high school ranks.  Of five pitchers taken by Kansas City over the first two days of the draft, four are right-handed throwers and one a lefty.  Two infielders and two outfielders were also taken by the Royals.

The two high school players nabbed by KC were taken fairly early during Friday’s proceedings, as Flint Hill (Virginia) High School outfielder Khalil Lee was taken in the 3rd round (#103 overall) and Dadeville (Alabama) High School center fielder Cal Jones went to the Royals in the 6th round (#193 overall).

In the 4th round, the Royals picked Texas A&M right-hander Jace Vines.  The team’s 5th round selection, #163 overall, was Creighton University shortstop Nicholas Lopez.

KC went to the West Coast to grab Oregon State right-hander Travis Eckert in the 7th round.  University of New Mexico first baseman Chris DeVito went in Round #8, Stetson University right-hander Walker Sheller in Round #9, and Kennesaw State lefty Richard Lovelady was the Royals 10th round selection.

The MLB Draft will conclude with Rounds 11 through 40 on Saturday, beginning at 11 AM.
